The Power Struggle

When Satan said he would be like the most high he entered into an unwinnable power struggle with Almighty God.

Isaiah 14:13-14: For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

When Adam and Eve decided to eat the forbidden fruit they joined Satan*s side of the unwinnable power struggle. All we who are descendants of Adam and Eve, are born on the wrong side of that power struggle. We inherit our position in the power struggle from Adam and Eve. God has not provided a way for Satan or the other fallen angels to return to God*s side of the power struggle. We can only guess why. Perhaps it is because Satan influenced Adam and Eve and through them the whole human race onto his side of the power struggle. The fallen angels are also on Satan*s side of the power struggle. The Bible is particularly hard on those that influence others away from God.

Luke 17:2: It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

Matthew 15:14: Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

The instruction to Let them alone seems to be an instruction to let the blind leaders continue on their way. It seems not to apply to the followers of the blind leaders. A leader may not be able to change direction but some followers can follow someone else in a different direction.

Matthew 23:15: Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

Matthew 7:6: Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

The swine may be those who lead others astray. I recently had an opportunity to share the gospel with an elderly couple. When I asked if they were willing to receive Jesus, the husband said Yes and the wife said No. She very quickly told me He said no! A couple of days later I met with him alone and he himself said No. I have now lost touch with them but continue to pray for them. I wonder if the wife moved her ailing husband out of my reach. If the Lord does not save them I expect the Lake of Fire will be hotter for the wife than for the husband.

God has provided a way onto His side of the power struggle through the Lord Jesus Christ.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

2 Corinthians 5:20: Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ*s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Where are you in the power struggle, the winning side or the losing side?
